Moynat is a Paris trunk house founded in 1849 by Pauline Moynat with the Coulembier family. Before it was a bag name it was a trunk workshop for rail travel and then for the motorcar: lighter leather, waterproof joints, shapes that fit a running board. That origin still explains the brand better than a mall floor in Pudong.

From Opéra to Saint-Honoré

The first door sat on Avenue de l'Opéra. The present flagship is 348 Saint-Honoré, with a second street on Montaigne and two departments — Galeries Lafayette and Le Bon Marché. Outside Paris the house mixes pavement (Montenapoleone, Mount Street) with Harrods, Saks, Isetan and a line of malls in Asia and the Gulf. Anyone treating “Moynat” as a single Paris address misses half the map.

Why it sits at 91

The score reads 1849, the malletier’s craft, the return under LVMH and a network of twenty-nine official doors — short for the group, too long to pretend watch rarity. There is no pin in Brazil. Réjane and Gabrielle are useful names; they do not erase the trunk.

How to buy with care

Check line, size and the boutique listing. Leather circulates on the secondary market; a monogram does not authenticate. For the live collection, use the site and the door published on this map.

Editorial classification

Moynat on the Luxe Index: 91 of 100

Malletier craft since 1849, the return under LVMH and twenty-nine official doors hold high luxury.

The score summarizes the brand’s place in its category; it does not replace reading the product, the line or the specific piece.
